On May 25, TVO’s The Agenda with Steve Paikin held a panel discussion on how social entrepreneurs are breaking down the barriers that many Canadians face in finding employment.

Building Up Executive Director Marc Soberano explained the “sector strategies” approach employed by his organization, which trains and hires people with barriers to employment to install energy and water efficient retrofits in Toronto’s low-income housing buildings. Calvin Brown also shared his experiences as a graduate of the Building Up training program.

Building Up is a Metcalf grantee through the Opportunities Fund. Tarah Clark, Building Up’s Director of Partnerships, is also a participant in the Toronto Sector Skills Academy.
