3 PM – 4:45 PM Online Event
The event is free but registration is required through Eventbrite in order to receive the Zoom details. Accessibility options are available during the registration process.
The Metcalf Foundation invites you to celebrate three years of remarkable strategic work by five Toronto-based organizations representing the fifth and final cohort of the Performing Arts Program’s Creative Strategies Incubator.
In place of the 14th annual Next Stage Theatre Festival, Toronto Fringe presents the Next Stage Community Booster. This 4-day event from January 21-24, 2021 will feature digital performances from acclaimed artists, livestreamed conversations on urgent topics, online workshops that focus on mental and self-care, and more.
Join us at the virtual sharing event on Zoom as each company provides a sneak peek into their initiatives and the outcomes – positive, unexpected, or otherwise – that emerged in response to their efforts to explore the potential of engaging audiences and building communities around their work.
Deeply committed to developing relationships with underserved communities such as francophone youth, Spanish-speakers, newcomers, Indigenous people, and people with visible and invisible disabilities — Aluna Theatre, Canadian Opera Company, Le Théâtre français de Toronto, The Toronto Fringe, and Young People’s Theatre — will reveal insights into their initiatives.
The first part of the event will include storytelling and conversation among the cohort. The second part will consist of breakout sessions where you get to engage with each other, the cohort, and the ideas they generated. The conversations will dive deeper into engaging younger audiences, cultural exchange and reconciliation, providing better access, and animating underused space.
- The event will be presented in English and will take place on Metcalf’s Zoom conferencing platform.
- Part 1 of the event will include live-captioning and ASL interpretation.
- Part 2 of the event will include automatically-transcribed captioning. If you require ASL interpretation, please let us know by noon on January 14. We will do our best to accommodate requests received after this deadline. Requests can be made during the registration process.
- If you require support completing the registration process, please contact Niko Casuncad at email@example.com
By registering for this event on Zoom, you acknowledge that you will be in a digital space that is public to any person who registers. During part 2, your name, likeness, and voice will be seen and/or heard by all members in your breakout room.
We are looking forward to sharing this inspiring work with you on January 21st!
