The following message was sent from Sandy Houston, Metcalf’s President and CEO, to sector partners and colleagues in March 2018 sharing more information on the Staging Change Associate Facilitator Training Initiative in the Performing Arts.

It is my great pleasure to share with you the outline of the Staging Change Associate Facilitator Training Initiative, which is an integral part of our new multi-year funding stream in the performing arts, Staging Change, to be delivered by Metcalf and EmcArts beginning in the fall of 2018.
We recently issued the Staging Change program guidelines. At that time, we promised you a more detailed document for the Associate Facilitator initiative and I am excited to share it with you today and hope that you will share it with others who you think might be interested in this opportunity.
Staging Change Associate Facilitator Training Initiative
Metcalf is committed to supporting individuals in the charitable sector over the arc of their careers. As part of its ongoing desire to develop and strengthen leaders who are contributing to positive change, the Foundation will be supporting dynamic leadership development as an integral part of our Staging Change program. As we work alongside EmcArts in the delivery of Staging Change over the next few years, we wish to cultivate a local team of adaptive change facilitators who will partner with us to develop and deliver future versions of this multi-year funding program in the arts.
So, in tandem with the launch of Staging Change, we are inviting local leaders who are interested in receiving extensive training in how to steward and support adaptive change within the context of this new program to apply to become a Staging Change Associate Facilitator.
Likely Candidates
Consultants who have a practice based in the performing arts will be well-suited to this work, especially those with experience in facilitating organizational change. We also believe that non-arts consultants from other sectors – the health and social spheres, for example – may also be good candidates. Finally, we invite organizational leaders from all arts disciplines – Executive Directors, Managing Directors, department heads in education or community engagement, for example – to consider this unique opportunity to broaden their skill sets.
Up to eight Toronto-based individuals will be selected through an application process. Participants in the Associate Facilitator Training Initiative become eligible to be hired by the Foundation as a lead facilitator in the Incubating Innovation and Scaling phases of Staging Change. Associate Facilitators will be compensated for their participation in all stages of the program.
Metcalf and EmcArts will be holding an information session on April 23, 2018 from 1-4 pm and I hope you will register to attend. The first two hours will be devoted to the granting program and the remainder to the Associate Facilitator initiative. We recommend those interested in the Associate opportunity attend the entire session.
