We are pleased to announce the eight Toronto-based performing arts companies and organizations accepted into Stage 2 of Staging Change 2020.

The 2020 cohort for Stage 2 includes:

• Jamii Esplanade
• Nightwood Theatre
• Nova Dance
• Outside the March
• Soulpepper Theatre Company
• Tangled Art + Disability
• Theatre Passe Muraille

Staging Change is a tiered program, comprised of four stages, offered in collaboration with EmcArts. Stage 2 shifts the organizations into an experimentation mode now that they have identified their complex challenges.

Although many of the challenges facing the organizations invited into Stage 2 were informed by the pandemic, some of them are focused on their relevance and impact long into the future. Balancing growth with intimacy, discovering authentic relationships with diverse communities, and privileging healthy, holistic, practices are examples of the challenges that are beginning to surface.

Stage 2 will include gatherings for each of the organizations to design and carry out multiple Small Experiments with Radical Intent (SERIs), from May to July 2021.
