precarious work and the federal election

Job quality in Canada has steadily declined since the late 1980s with an erosion of full-time jobs and a rise of part-time and precarious work. Yet these conditions have barely entered the conversation in this fall’s federal election campaign. That’s the subject of a Toronto Star article which features comments by Metcalf Innovation Fellow Tom Zizys. “I think it’s fascinating in the U.S. in the presidential elections, you’ve got someone like even Hillary Clinton talking about the conditions that are driving inequality in the marketplace,” says Tom Zizys. “We’re not even having that kind of discussion in our federal election.”
