Webinar: Creative Strategies Incubator 2014: Preparing Your Letter of Interest
2013

October 18, 2013; 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Performing Arts Program Director Michael Jones will answer your questions about the Foundation’s new Creative Strategies Incubator program and our 2014 focus issue – engaging audiences and building communities around your work.

In Building Communities, Not Audiences, Doug Borwick writes, “The arts are not a product delivery industry. The arts are a personal relationship industry.” Building larger, more deeply engaged communities around the work of our arts companies is paramount to our sector’s ability to thrive. We need to expand our networks and to continue to build relationships with new audiences. This includes not only the people who will support our work through ticket sales and donations, but also the people who will advocate for our  role in society. Applicants to the 2014 Creative Strategies Incubator should try to bring new thinking to this focus issue. How can we reach out to new people in new ways? How can we foster deeper connections with our existing audiences?

In addition to general information about the program, this session will address issues related to:

  • the required content of your letter of interest,
  • activities that could be supported through the funding program,
  • the people from your organization who should anticipate being involved in the application and in the Foundation’s Learning Network, and
  • what the Foundation will consider when reviewing letters of interest and full applications.

Participation in this webinar is strongly recommended for companies considering applying to the Creative Strategies Incubator, but it is not a prerequisite for submitting a letter of interest.
